Terror in the Pulpit: ECWA Pastor Kidnapped in Midnight Raid in Kaduna

Fear and anguish have gripped the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) following the abduction of one of its young clergymen, Pastor Samson Ndah Ali, during a brazen midnight raid in Kaduna State.

The 30-year-old pastor was forcefully taken from his residence in Mararaba Abro, located in Sanga Local Government Area, in the early hours of Monday, April 8, 2025. The terrifying incident, which occurred around 12:45 a.m., has left the local community reeling in shock and uncertainty.

According to credible intelligence sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, heavily armed assailants stormed the pastor’s home under the cover of darkness, whisking him away to an unknown destination. The attack, suspected to have been carried out by terrorists masquerading as bandits, has once again raised alarms about the escalating insecurity plaguing parts of northern Nigeria.

The daring abduction has not only sent shockwaves through the Sanga community but has also thrown ECWA members and religious leaders across the region into a state of deep concern, with calls intensifying for swift government intervention.

In response, a multi-agency rescue mission has been activated, involving the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS). These security forces are currently conducting coordinated search and intelligence operations in a bid to track down the kidnappers and secure Pastor Ali’s safe release.

Despite mounting public pressure and growing anxiety, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, was unreachable for comments as at the time of filing this report.

The abduction of Pastor Ali adds to a disturbing trend of clergy being targeted across the country, further highlighting the vulnerability of rural communities and the urgent need for improved security architecture.

As the search intensifies, prayers continue to pour in from across the Christian community, with many clinging to hope for the pastor’s safe return.
