“Nigeria Is Collapsing, Don’t Be Silent — Peter Obi Charges Labour Party Members to Rise and Rescue the Nation”

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has issued a passionate and urgent call to action, warning that Nigeria is teetering on the edge of total collapse and must be salvaged by courageous, patriotic citizens unafraid to speak truth to power.

Speaking at the ongoing National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Labour Party in Abuja, Obi urged party members to cast aside fear and boldly confront the country’s mounting challenges.

“Do not fear anybody,” Obi declared firmly. “Those who were afraid yesterday didn’t do any better. We must raise our voices when things go wrong. Nigeria is collapsing before our eyes. The numbers don’t lie—the economic indicators are glaring, and the suffering is increasing. People are getting poorer every single day.”

The former Anambra State governor didn’t mince words as he painted a grim picture of the nation’s current state, pointing to the widespread poverty, economic decline, and deepening disillusionment among Nigerians. He said it was time to rescue the nation from misrule and apathy.

Obi emphasized the importance of unity, inclusion, and ideological clarity within the Labour Party, describing it as more than a political platform—rather, a movement built on shared values and collective responsibility.

“Labour Party has chosen to be a family, and we must act like one. It’s not about Peter Obi’s choice; it’s about the collective choice of every committed member. This family excludes no one. We are building a party anchored on fairness, justice, and inclusion.”

Looking ahead, Obi underscored the party’s readiness to contest future elections with a slate of thoroughly vetted and competent candidates who embody the party’s vision for a new Nigeria.

“We must go into the next election battle-ready, offering Nigerians the very best—competent, credible, and committed candidates across all positions: from the House of Representatives and Senate to the Governorships and Presidency.”

He also called for deep introspection and reform within the party, noting that past mistakes must be corrected to strengthen the Labour Party’s future.

“Going forward, anyone aspiring to contest under our banner must not be a political opportunist or a visitor. They must be true party loyalists—tested, trusted, and capable. Competence and commitment will be the yardsticks.”

Obi’s remarks come at a time of growing national despair, and his message serves as a rallying cry for those seeking real change. With a resolute tone, he reaffirmed his mission to build a political force that reflects the hopes and dreams of millions of Nigerians who are tired of business as usual.

“Nigeria needs rescuers, not spectators. This is not the time for silence or fear. It is the time to speak up, rise up, and act,” Obi concluded.
