In yet another chilling episode of rural terror, heavily armed bandits stormed Rakyabu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on the evening of Friday, April 5, 2025, leaving behind a trail of devastation.

Eyewitnesses and security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack, which occurred around 6:30 p.m., saw the assailants arrive on motorcycles and open fire indiscriminately, sending residents fleeing into nearby bushes for safety. Amid the chaos, several homes were set ablaze, reducing the once peaceful village to smoldering ruins.

Tragically, five women were abducted in the assault. Among them is Rakiya Adamu, a well-known community member, along with four others whose identities are yet to be confirmed. The attackers swiftly fled the scene with their captives, vanishing into the surrounding forest before security operatives could intercept them.

Troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA were immediately deployed to the area in response to distress calls, but arrived after the terrorists had retreated.

Military sources have since confirmed that a coordinated operation is currently underway to track the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted women. Intelligence units are said to be working tirelessly, combing through surveillance data and deploying tactical assets to close in on the fleeing gunmen.

This latest attack adds to the growing list of brutal incursions that have plagued Zamfara State in recent months, heightening fears among residents and prompting renewed calls for decisive government action against the escalating wave of insecurity.
