TENSION IN THE AIR: Adamawa CP Deploys Heavy Security Ahead of April 7 Nationwide Protest

…Warns Against Violence, Assures Protection of Lives and Property

Amid rising tension over the planned nationwide protest slated for April 7, 2025, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc(+), has rolled out sweeping security measures to ensure law and order are maintained across the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, CP Morris issued a strong directive to all area commanders, divisional heads, and tactical units, alerting them of a coordinated protest allegedly spearheaded by certain groups masquerading as Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). These groups are reportedly mobilising citizens across the country, using social media as a tool to draw attention to the soaring cost of living and what they claim is an increasing clampdown on freedom of expression.

According to police intelligence, while the protest may appear peaceful on the surface, it presents a golden opportunity for criminal elements to unleash chaos — targeting government institutions, private properties, and disrupting the socio-economic activities of the state.

In anticipation of such threats, CP Morris has ordered a massive deployment of police personnel and assets to all strategic locations across Adamawa State. The move is designed to deter mischief-makers and guarantee a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the protest.

Mission Objectives:

The high-powered operation is tailored to achieve the following objectives:

1. Ensure peaceful conduct of the protest without a single breach of public peace.

2. Prevent hoodlums, miscreants, and political saboteurs from hijacking the protest for criminal gain.

3. Provide round-the-clock security at critical flashpoints, including Labour House, public and private warehouses, PZ Roundabout, Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, major marketplaces, Unity Flyover, Dougirei and Doubeli Junctions, Jimeta-Girei Bridge, Jabbama Toll Gate, the State House of Assembly, state and federal secretariats, media houses, and all courts across the state.

4. Guarantee unhindered movement for law-abiding citizens and smooth vehicular flow throughout the protest period.

5. Safeguard lives and property while ensuring Adamawa remains stable and secure.

Mobilised Forces:

The operation will draw from an impressive arsenal of security manpower, including:

Department of Operations

State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)

Area Command Headquarters
