The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested Hadaina Hussaini, popularly known as Dan-Taki, a dismissed Police Special Constabulary officer, after a chilling social media video surfaced in which he threatened violent reprisals against southerners residing in the North.
Hussaini, donned in what appeared to be a police uniform, sparked nationwide outrage after a Facebook video went viral. In the video, he swore by Almighty God that revenge would be exacted within a week for the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State.
“Have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North? Mark my word, after one week you shall see the result,” he declared ominously in the post that many Nigerians have condemned as dangerously inciting and capable of triggering ethnic unrest.
Reacting swiftly to the alarming development, the Kaduna State Police Command distanced itself from Hussaini, clarifying that he was neither a serving police officer nor a member of the force’s official ranks.
“The attention of the Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a Facebook video credited to one Hadaina Hussaini (Dan-Taki), captioned, ‘Kaduna Police Officer Threatens Retaliation Against Southerners in Uromi Killings.’ We wish to categorically state that Hussaini is not a member of the Nigeria Police Force nor a serving personnel of the Kaduna Command,” the statement read.
According to the police, the uniform seen in the video was from Hussaini’s time as a volunteer in the Police Special Constabulary – a community policing initiative – from which he was dismissed two years ago due to “questionable character and misconduct.”
“The image showing him in uniform was taken prior to his dismissal, and the attire bears the mark ‘PSC/KD,’ denoting Police Special Constabulary, Kaduna. His dressing in the video was improper and does not reflect the standards or authority of the Nigeria Police Force,” the command clarified.
Authorities confirmed that Hussaini was arrested shortly after the video surfaced and is currently in custody. He is expected to face charges following the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
“The suspect has been arrested and will be charged in court upon completion of investigations in accordance with extant laws,” the police assured, reaffirming their commitment to national unity and the rule of law.
The development comes amid heightened tensions following the killings in Uromi, with many calling on security agencies to remain vigilant and act decisively against any attempt to incite ethnic or religious violence across the country.
