Atiku Slams Tinubu Government Over Worsening Security Crisis, Condemns Routine Bloodshed Across Nigeria

In a scathing rebuke of the Bola Tinubu administration, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed grave concern over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, lamenting the routine massacre of citizens and the federal government’s alarming complacency.

Atiku said Nigerians have now become numb to daily reports of killings, describing the failure of the Tinubu-led government’s security framework as a nationwide epidemic. He warned that the country is gradually descending into an abyss of lawlessness.

> “The failure of Bola Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon, with repeated killings — many of which no longer make the headlines,” Atiku declared in a statement on Friday.

The former Vice President specifically mourned the victims of the latest bloodshed in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area, where armed bandits recently unleashed terror, killing at least 10 people across five communities in a series of coordinated attacks.

> “Nigerians are now being forced to get used to such news of wanton killings. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos and the affected families,” he said.

Atiku didn’t mince words in his call for urgent and sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s security sector. He warned that unless President Tinubu acts swiftly, the country risks slipping further into chaos.

> “I wish to restate my counsel to the Tinubu-led Federal Government: it is imperative to reconfigure its security architecture to effectively protect the lives and property of Nigerians,” he added.

The fresh attacks in Bokkos, which occurred on Wednesday, followed closely on the heels of a similarly brutal incident last week in the Ruwi community, where 10 people were gunned down during a wake. Three others sustained serious injuries.

The Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), in a statement signed by its chairman Farmasum Fuddang, condemned the persistent attacks, calling them a calculated campaign of ethnic and religious cleansing.

> “In just one week, we have lost over twenty community members due to these marauding terrorists, who are engaged in an ongoing ethnic and religious cleansing of five villages,” the statement read.

Fuddang further alleged that the peaceful and hospitable people of Bokkos are now under siege by terrorist elements intent on displacing them and imposing a caliphate.

As the carnage continues unabated and rural communities remain vulnerable, the calls for decisive action grow louder. Atiku’s fiery condemnation adds his voice to the rising tide of Nigerians demanding accountability, justice, and a renewed commitment to national security.
