CAN Demands Justice for 16 Hunters Lynched by Mob in Edo State

In a powerful call for justice, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the brutal lynching of 16 hunters by a mob in Uromi, Edo State, demanding immediate action from security agencies.

Announcing its stance on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, CAN described the incident as a grave injustice that must not go unpunished, urging authorities to conduct a swift and transparent investigation into the gruesome killings.

The tragic event, which has sparked national outrage, saw the hunters falsely accused and subjected to mob justice without due process. CAN emphasized that jungle justice has no place in a civilized society and called on the Edo State Government and law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

“We stand firmly against this barbaric act, and we call for justice for the victims and their grieving families,” CAN stated, reiterating the need for strengthened security measures to prevent similar incidents.

This development has ignited debates on the rising cases of mob lynching across Nigeria, with human rights groups and civil society organizations joining CAN in demanding accountability.

Will justice be served, or will this become another case of impunity in Nigeria’s justice system? The nation watches closely as investigations unfold.
