In a daring nighttime operation, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in collaboration with the Police Mobile Force (PMF), successfully rescued 20 kidnapped victims along the Takum-Mararaba Road in Taraba State. The dramatic rescue followed an intense gunfight with the abductors, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the forest.

Intelligence sources revealed to Zagazola Makama that the operation was launched at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday after security operatives received a distress alert about a kidnapping incident in Muji town. Responding swiftly, the troops, reinforced by 67 PMF personnel stationed at Samta, mobilized to intercept the criminals.

Upon arrival at the scene, the security forces engaged the heavily armed kidnappers in a fierce shootout. Outgunned and overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops, the criminals were forced to retreat, leaving behind their captives.

Among those rescued were Yakubu Usman of Angwan Abuja and Godwin Peter of Angwan Dadin Kowa, who sustained injuries during the ordeal. They were immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

Security operatives also recovered abandoned vehicles at the scene, further solidifying their efforts to curb criminal activities in the region.

The successful operation underscores the relentless commitment of the Nigerian Army and security agencies in the fight against banditry and kidnappings across the country. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle their criminal network.
