Maiduguri witnessed an electrifying night of faith and revival as thousands of Christian worshippers thronged the city for a powerful crusade led by the renowned Nigerian pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche, General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja.

The crusade, titled “IGNITED: A Fire of Revival in Borno State,” drew an unprecedented gathering of believers from across the North East, marking a defining moment of faith, resilience, and hope in a city once ravaged by insurgency.

The seamless execution of the event served as a powerful testament to the improving security landscape in Borno State and the unwavering spirit of the Christian community. Against a backdrop of past turmoil, worshippers lifted their voices in unison—singing, praying, and absorbing soul-stirring sermons that emphasized unity, perseverance, and spiritual awakening.

This massive religious gathering also arrives at a time when the Federal Government has dismissed allegations of targeted persecution of Christians in the North East, describing such claims as misleading narratives designed to influence international policies against Nigeria. Officials argue that the violence plaguing communities is primarily fueled by terrorism and criminal activities, rather than state-backed religious oppression.

For many attendees, the crusade was more than just a religious gathering—it was a symbol of faith over fear, a declaration of religious freedom, and an assertion of their right to worship without hindrance.

“This is a historic moment for Christians in the North East. The sheer number of worshippers gathered here tonight, praising God without fear, proves that peace is returning to Borno,” said Deborah Musa, who traveled from Yobe State to attend the crusade.

Pastor James Buba, another attendee, hailed the Dunamis International Gospel Centre for its bold move in hosting such a large-scale event, stating that it had rekindled hope and strengthened the faith of many believers in the region.

Despite the region’s past security challenges, the ability to host such a massive revival gathering in Maiduguri—without incident—sends a resounding message: peace and religious harmony are taking root once again.

As the revival drew to a close, worshippers departed with renewed faith and a sense of optimism. Many described the night as a spiritual rebirth for Maiduguri, a city once overshadowed by conflict but now glowing with the light of hope and divine restoration.
