PRESS RELEASE: ADAMAWA POLICE FOIL VIOLENT ROBBERY ATTEMPT BY NOTORIOUS SHILA GANG IN JIMETA BYPASS

The Adamawa State Police Command successfully repelled a violent armed robbery attack orchestrated by a gang of notorious Shila Boys on March 8, 2025.

Acting on a distress call from a concerned citizen, the Command swiftly responded to reports that six heavily armed Shila Boys were terrorizing innocent residents—snatching mobile phones and valuables—along Jimeta Bypass, near Yan Rake Market, Yola North LGA.

Upon receiving the alert, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc(+), immediately mobilized the Command’s specialized Anti-Shila Squad to the scene. However, upon sighting the operatives, the criminals launched a violent resistance, pelting officers with stones in a desperate bid to escape, resulting in damage to the windscreen of a police patrol vehicle.

Undeterred, the security operatives engaged the criminals, neutralizing one suspect while the rest managed to flee under the cover of darkness.

Items Recovered from the Scene:

1. One (1) cutlass

2. One (1) pair of scissors

3. A large quantity of illicit drugs

CP Dankombo Morris reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety and security across Adamawa State. He further emphasized that no level of intimidation or criminal defiance would deter the police from their mandate of maintaining law and order. Efforts are currently underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
