In a dramatic turn of events, the Rivers State Police Command has rescued Mrs. Success Miracle, the wife of Prophet Umueke Miracle, the General Overseer of Dynamic Flame of Fire Ministries, after she was allegedly detained for five days by her husband in a house located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Port Harcourt.
The controversial pastor, now under police investigation, is accused of subjecting his wife to years of financial and emotional control, a pattern she claims has been ongoing since their marriage in 2017.
Speaking to SaharaReporters, Mrs. Miracle revealed that her husband had imposed strict financial restrictions on her, forbidding her from opening a bank account or having independent financial means while simultaneously denying her money for personal expenses.
“We have been married since 2017. Anytime we have issues, he would put me under house arrest. He made it clear that I should not have my own money or even open a bank account, but he wasn’t giving me money either,” she lamented.
Determined to regain financial independence, she secretly opened an account with Access Bank and started a small business selling water and ministry supplies, with the help of some church staff. However, her efforts to secure financial stability backfired when Prophet Miracle allegedly deceived bank officials into revealing her account balance, falsely claiming he intended to deposit ₦500 million.
Upon discovering her secret account, Prophet Miracle allegedly accused her of stealing from him and running an unauthorized business under his ministry. On Tuesday night, he forcibly took her to a secluded house in GRA, confiscated her phones, and cut off her communication with the outside world.
“He told me he was going to sue me and has kept me here since Tuesday night. It’s not a prison; it’s a normal house that I think he rented,” she explained.
Following reports of her unlawful confinement, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, swiftly mobilized a team, led by DPO Abacha, to rescue Mrs. Miracle. However, allegations surfaced that Prophet Miracle had influential ties within the police force, a claim the commissioner dismissed outright.
“I don’t know any pastor. How can I allow someone to be locked inside a house? Am I an animal?” CP Adepoju stated, refuting any suggestion of favoritism.
Upon confronting Prophet Miracle over the phone, the police commissioner demanded to speak with Mrs. Miracle. However, the cleric insisted that he should be spoken to first. While he initially resisted police directives, claiming he had to preach at church, authorities ensured Mrs. Miracle was removed from the house and taken to the police station for her safety.
At the station, Mrs. Miracle detailed her ordeal, confirming that she had been cut off from her family and deprived of communication.
“Any little thing, he would seize the phone. Everyone in the house does not have a phone because of me, so that I would not get any phone to make calls,” she revealed.
DPO Abacha also dismissed claims that the police were on Prophet Miracle’s payroll, stating:
“I don’t know that man. They said we are on his payroll—somebody I don’t even know. We had to trace the house to locate the place; we don’t know him.”
The police have assured the public that a full-scale investigation is underway, with further actions to be determined based on their findings.
This unfolding case has sparked discussions on financial control, emotional abuse, and the unchecked power some religious leaders wield within their private lives. As the investigation progresses, many are calling for justice to ensure that such incidents do not go unpunished.
