Kano Police Crush Bandit Network, Recover Weapons and Cash in High-Stakes Raid

In a decisive operation against criminal elements, the Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspected bandits and uncovered a significant cache of weapons and cash, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state.

The tactical operation, executed on March 6, 2025, at approximately 4 p.m., was carried out by a specialized police team acting on intelligence reports. The raid took place in the Jarkuka area under the Mariri Division, with the operation spearheaded by the Officer-in-Charge of the Jarkuka Outpost.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Shukurana Salihu (25), Rabi’u Dahiru (35), and Ya’u Idris (30)—all hailing from Katsina State—as well as Muktar Sani, a resident of Yandodo Hotoro Quarters in Kano State.

Arsenal of Weapons Recovered

During the operation, security operatives seized a deadly cache of arms and ammunition, exposing the depth of the suspects’ criminal activities. The recovered items include:

Three locally made revolver pistols

Two cutlasses

Twelve live rounds of assorted ammunition

Three cartridges

Four sharp knives

Four mobile phones

Twenty-four pellets

A vigilante group identity card

The discovery of these weapons and accessories underscores the imminent threat the suspects posed to public safety, raising concerns about a wider criminal network operating in the region.

A senior police source confirmed that these arrests are part of heightened security measures aimed at flushing out criminal syndicates terrorizing Kano State and its environs.

In a related development, the Kano State Police Command also apprehended three suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen vehicles, demonstrating a renewed offensive against crime in the state.

The arrested bandits are currently in police custody, undergoing rigorous interrogation to extract further intelligence on their operations. Authorities have assured that, upon completion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly.
