A Grand Gesture: Pastor Korede Komaiya Reveals N250m Contribution to Oyedepo’s 70th Birthday Rolls Royce Gift

The Nation Newspaper has taken to it’s official X handle and announced that,Pastor Korede Komaiya has opened up about his remarkable contribution to celebrating Bishop David Oyedepo’s 70th birthday, revealing that he personally donated N250 million towards the purchase of a Rolls Royce for the revered cleric.

According to Pastor Komaiya, Bishop Oyedepo had initially discouraged extravagant gifts, instead urging well-wishers to channel their resources toward helping 70 widows, the less privileged, and those in need. However, in a grand display of admiration and gratitude, Komaiya and three other individuals decided to surprise the Living Faith Church founder with an ultra-luxurious Rolls Royce, a gift that reportedly cost a staggering N1.5 billion.

Recounting the moment, Pastor Komaiya described how the gesture left Bishop Oyedepo visibly stunned, as it was the first time in his 70 years that he had ever received such a high-end automobile.

He said:

> “My dad’s 70th birthday was approaching, and we wanted to honor him. But he insisted that we should rather bless 70 widows, the poor, and those in need instead of spending money on him. We respected his wishes, but at the same time, four of us came together and decided to get him a Rolls Royce. We knew he would never use his own money to buy one, so I was privileged to contribute N250 million towards it. And believe it or not, I gave the least amount among us.”

“The car was worth N1.5 billion, and we deliberately chose not to publicize the gesture on social media. But when we finally presented it to him, he was completely shocked. He said in his 70 years, this was the one thing nobody had ever given him.”

The revelation has since sparked widespread discussions, with many praising the gesture as a heartfelt act of honor, while others debate the extravagance of such a gift in light of Oyedepo’s initial plea to prioritize charity.
