Tensions are running high in Rivers State as prominent Ijaw groups, including the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), have issued a stern warning against any attempt to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, Nigerian Stories reported that the Ijaw groups are strongly opposed to the alleged plot to remove the governor, vowing to resist any move that threatens the stability of the state.
The groups emphasized that Governor Fubara enjoys the overwhelming support of the Ijaw people and warned political actors against plunging the state into crisis. They called for dialogue and peaceful resolution of any political disagreements, stressing that the will of the people must be respected.
With political tensions escalating, all eyes are on the Rivers State political landscape as stakeholders brace for what could be a defining moment in the state’s governance.
