“IBB Denounces Anti-Igbo Narrative, Praises Their Hard Work and Dedication”

Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has taken to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to dismiss what he describes as a false narrative against the Igbo people. In a strong and affirmative statement, Babangida lauded the Igbo ethnic group for their industriousness and commitment to national development.

“It was a narrative pushed against the Igbos. The Igbos are one of the most hardworking and dedicated groups we are blessed to have in this country,” IBB declared.

His statement comes at a time when ethnic tensions and historical grievances continue to shape Nigeria’s socio-political landscape. Babangida, who ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993, remains a significant voice in national discourse. His commendation of the Igbo people underscores their undeniable contributions to commerce, innovation, and the economic fabric of the country.

Concluding his message with patriotic fervor, he wrote: “God bless the Igbo people, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

IBB’s remarks have sparked widespread reactions, with many applauding his recognition of the Igbo community’s resilience and impact. His words serve as a reminder of the need for unity and national cohesion in a country often divided along ethnic and regional lines.
