Adamawa to Revolutionize Digital Access: State to Connect All LGAs to High-Speed Internet, Empowers Youth in Tech

In a bold move to bridge the digital divide, the Adamawa State Government is set to link all 21 local government areas (LGAs) with high-speed internet, ensuring seamless connectivity for schools, public offices, and essential institutions.

The initiative, driven in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT), marks a significant step towards digital transformation in the state. As part of the project, the government recently concluded an intensive training program at Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, equipping 100 youths with cutting-edge skills in cybersecurity, disaster management, and rural connectivity solutions.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging satellite and fiber-optic technology to expand broadband access, particularly in underserved communities. She emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy is actively working to connect schools, primary healthcare centers, and other public institutions to high-speed internet, fostering digital inclusion across the state.

“Our administration is not just expanding internet access; we are ensuring its impact is transformative,” Farauta stated. “We have also approved the digitalization of the state civil service records, a crucial step towards eliminating inefficiencies and ensuring real-time access to critical government data.”

She further highlighted the state’s adoption of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology and participation in the Spacehack 2025 Initiative, which align with the planned Compact Modular OneGov Data Center. This cutting-edge infrastructure will connect ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), enabling seamless data sharing, enhancing transparency, and improving governance efficiency.

The Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Jane Egerton, assured that the agency had finalized plans to deploy broadband connectivity to all 21 LGAs, reinforcing the government’s mission to create a digitally empowered workforce and economy.

With these strategic initiatives, Adamawa State is poised to become a leader in Nigeria’s digital revolution, fostering innovation, economic growth, and youth empowerment through advanced connectivity.
