In a decisive crackdown on criminal activities, operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Zamfara State successfully thwarted a ransom payment and neutralized a gang of bandits in Ganuwa forest, Tsafe Local Government Area.
The high-stakes operation unfolded on Wednesday after security forces received credible intelligence about an impending ransom delivery for the release of a kidnapped victim. Acting swiftly, the operatives set up a strategic ambush, anticipating the bandits’ arrival.
As the criminals emerged from their hideout to collect the ransom, they were met with a well-coordinated security response. Realizing they had walked into a trap, the bandits opened fire in a desperate bid to escape. However, the JTF operatives held their ground, engaging in a fierce firefight. Sources revealed that the operatives tactically outmaneuvered the attackers, allowing them to deplete their ammunition before launching a decisive counteroffensive that left several of them neutralized.
In the aftermath of the gun battle, security personnel recovered two motorcycles and a cache of weapons belonging to the assailants. More importantly, the kidnapped victim was successfully rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family in good health.
This latest victory underscores the relentless efforts of security forces in combating banditry and restoring peace to Zamfara State. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustaining the offensive against criminal elements, urging communities to remain vigilant and support ongoing security operations.
