A fresh wave of terror swept through Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State as armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on Gidan Sule and Kwana Doka villages, killing three people and leaving two others critically injured.

Intelligence sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama on Sunday that the assaults occurred around 10:00 p.m. on February 23, when a large group of heavily armed bandits stormed the villages, unleashing chaos with indiscriminate gunfire.

“At Gidan Sule, three individuals were shot dead, while several houses were torched, sending residents fleeing for safety. Over at Kwana Doka, two people sustained severe gunshot wounds and were rushed to the General Hospital in Funtua for emergency treatment,” the sources disclosed.

In response to the distress call, a Police Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Patrol Team swiftly mobilized to the Unguwar Ali/Kwankiro axis in an attempt to intercept the assailants. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to retreat into the dense forests of Katsina, their hideout for launching deadly raids.

The latest attack underscores the growing insecurity in Katsina State, where rural communities remain at the mercy of violent criminal gangs. Despite intensified security operations, banditry continues to pose a grave threat, with residents living in constant fear of the next strike.

Authorities have assured the public of ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators and bolster security in the affected areas. However, locals are calling for more proactive measures to stem the tide of violence and restore peace to their embattled communities.
