Armed Robbery and Violence: Adamawa Police Arrest Man for Snatching Phone, Stabbing Victim

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspect, Usman Abubakar of Shuware Ward, Mubi North Local Government Area, for allegedly robbing a resident of her mobile phone and violently attacking her with a sharp object.

In a statement issued on Monday, the police confirmed that the arrest took place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, following a distress complaint lodged by the victim, Hadiza Atiku of Wuro Harde Ward, Mubi North LGA.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the victim was ambushed near Jambas Hotel, Mubi, where the suspect allegedly blocked her path, stabbed her with a pair of scissors, and forcibly took her Infinix WOD 9 smartphone before fleeing the scene.

“Upon receiving the report, operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters launched an immediate operation, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect,” Nguroje stated.

The police recovered the stolen handset, the weapon used in the attack, and a tricycle allegedly used to facilitate the crime.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is cooperating with investigators, with authorities assuring that he will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Adamawa Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crimes in the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
