FAKE POLICE SERGEANT NABBED IN OGUN: SUSPECTED IMPOSTOR UNDER INVESTIGATION

In a dramatic turn of events, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, identified as Harry Collins, for impersonating a police officer. The suspect was caught in full police uniform, bearing the rank of a sergeant, on the Long Bridge, Warewa, raising serious security concerns.

Announcing the arrest on its official X handle, Vanguard Newspaper reported that the suspect was apprehended during a reconnaissance patrol on February 20 at approximately 2:10 p.m. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), whose team became suspicious of Collins’ presence and swiftly took him into custody.

According to the Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspect was unable to provide a credible explanation for his impersonation during interrogation. His dubious actions have prompted further investigations to uncover his true intentions and any potential criminal activities he may be involved in.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations,” Odutola stated, adding that the police are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring justice is served.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals masquerading as law enforcement officers. The arrest of Collins serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by impostors who could exploit the trust and authority associated with the police uniform.

With investigations still ongoing, the authorities are working to determine whether Collins acted alone or was part of a larger syndicate engaged in criminal activities.
