In a strategic move to strengthen the legislative arm of government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) for a renewable five-year term.
Enyiekere, an environmental specialist, previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to Senate President Godswill Akpabio. His appointment underscores Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring experienced hands oversee the administration of legislative affairs.
In a statement on Thursday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, announced that the President had also appointed 12 commission members—two representatives from each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Among the appointees is Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, the brother of former Abia State Governor and ex-Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu. His inclusion is expected to stir political conversations, given his family’s deep-rooted influence in Nigerian politics.
