The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, presided over the decoration of 19 newly promoted senior police officers in a grand ceremony at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The event, filled with pomp and prestige, was attended by top dignitaries, senior police officers, and family members of the promotees.
The highlight of the ceremony was the elevation of three Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the prestigious rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG). The newly decorated AIGs are:
AIG Garba Ahmed
AIG Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo
AIG Salman Garba Dogo
Additionally, sixteen Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP), marking a significant milestone in their careers. Among the newly decorated CPs are:
CP Cyriacus Enechukwu
CP Gombit Bangs
CP Rosemary Akpan
CP Ayodele Adeyemi
The ceremony attracted an array of distinguished personalities, including Prince Ma Sani-Omolori, former Clerk to the National Assembly (Ciroma of Ebira Land); Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission; and DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu (Rtd.), among other respected figures in the policing and security sector.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Egbetokun commended their dedication and urged them to see their promotion as a call to greater service. He emphasized the crucial role of leadership in law enforcement and charged them to remain committed to upholding justice, professionalism, and national security.
“As you rise to these new ranks, the expectations are higher. You must lead by example, enforce the law with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to our collective mission of securing lives and property,” the IGP stated.
He further reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to implementing innovative security strategies and strengthening law enforcement efforts to ensure a safer and more prosperous nation.
The newly decorated officers, beaming with pride, pledged their unwavering dedication to duty, vowing to justify the confidence reposed in them.
