Blood and Betrayal: Ex-Convict Arrested in Abuja for Gruesome Murder of Friend

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Iliayasu Mohammed, an ex-convict, for the gruesome murder of his friend, Safillahi Muhammad, in Dantata Village, Abuja.

The shocking incident, which has sent ripples through the community, was reported by Sahara Reporters via its official X handle. According to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim lying unconscious in a pool of blood, bearing multiple deep cutlass wounds.

Despite efforts to save him, Muhammad was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed lured the victim to his residence under the guise of sharing a meal. As Muhammad unsuspectingly ate, Mohammed launched a savage attack, inflicting fatal injuries to his head and body.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing his affiliation with a notorious criminal syndicate that specializes in ambushing and robbing motorcyclists. The gang, allegedly led by a man identified as Hassan, remains under police investigation, with authorities intensifying efforts to track down other members who are still at large.

The FCT Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to ensuring justice is served. Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that security agencies are working tirelessly to dismantle criminal networks across the capital.

Meanwhile, Mohammed is set to face murder charges in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

This disturbing case highlights the ever-present dangers lurking within communities and the importance of proactive security measures. Authorities have reiterated their resolve to rid the FCT of violent criminals and bring perpetrators to justice.
