In a shocking development, the National President of the Afenifere National Youths Council, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, has been abducted in Abuja by gunmen who have demanded a staggering N100 million ransom for his release.
The distressing news was made public via Sahara Reporters’ official X handle, with the Afenifere National Youths Council confirming the abduction in an official statement.
According to Abiodun Aderohunmu, the National Secretary of the Afenifere National Youths Council, the kidnapping occurred on Monday, February 17, 2025. During the attack, Prince Ojajuni was shot twice, sustaining bullet wounds to his buttocks before being taken away by his captors.
“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of our National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja,” Aderohunmu stated. “The unfortunate incident took place yesterday, and the kidnappers have made it clear that they will accept nothing less than N100,000,000 for his release.”
The group has expressed grave concerns over Ojajuni’s safety and medical condition, urging the kidnappers to release him unharmed.
“Prince Ojajuni is a well-respected figure in Nigeria, known for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and development. We call on the Nigerian government and security agencies to take swift and decisive action to ensure his safe return. Additionally, we appeal to the general public to provide any information that could aid in his rescue,” the statement added.
A source within the group, speaking anonymously to Sahara Reporters on Thursday, confirmed that the kidnappers remain firm on their ransom demand.
“The abduction happened on February 17. They shot the President twice. He has bullet wounds, and they are saying N100 million or nothing,” the source revealed.
However, the group could not confirm whether any bystanders were injured or if there were additional casualties during the violent operation.
This latest high-profile kidnapping has once again put Nigeria’s security crisis under scrutiny, with mounting pressure on law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in tackling abductions that have become alarmingly frequent.
As the hours tick by, the Afenifere National Youths Council, political leaders, and Nigerians at large await urgent intervention from the authorities to secure Prince Ojajuni’s release before the situation takes a tragic turn.
