JUST IN: U.S. State Department Eases Visa Process, Waives In-Person Interviews for Eligible Applicants

In a major development, the United States Department of State has updated its visa application process, granting waivers for in-person interviews to certain categories of applicants. The announcement was made via the official X handle of Nigerian Stories, highlighting the latest policy shift aimed at streamlining entry procedures for qualified individuals.

According to the update, the in-person interview requirement has been waived for the following categories of applicants:

1. Diplomatic and Government Officials – This includes individuals applying for A-1, A-2, C-3 (with specific exceptions), G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, and NATO-1 through NATO-6 visas, as well as TECRO E-1 visas.

2. Holders of Diplomatic or Official-Type Visas – Applicants seeking diplomatic or government-issued visas now qualify for the waiver.

3. Visa Renewal Applicants – Individuals renewing visas in the same category are eligible, provided their previous visa expired within the past 12 months.

This policy adjustment is expected to significantly reduce wait times and bureaucratic bottlenecks, ensuring a more seamless visa application process for eligible candidates. The move aligns with the U.S. government’s efforts to facilitate diplomatic engagements and support ease of travel for government officials and returning visitors.

More details on the updated guidelines are expected to follow in the coming days. Applicants are advised to check with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their region for further clarifications on eligibility and requirements.
