As the race for Anambra State’s governorship intensifies ahead of the November 8, 2025 election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially pegged its nomination and expression of interest forms at a combined cost of N40 million.
Aspirants seeking to contest under the PDP platform will be required to pay N35 million for the nomination form and N5 million for the expression of interest form.
In a letter addressed to Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of the Anambra State PDP chapter, and copied to Sunday Ude-Okoye, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), the party outlined the timeline and procedures for its primary election.
According to the documents, signed by PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, and dated February 13, the party has set March 7 as the deadline for submission of forms, as reported by PUNCH.
February 24 – March 7: Sale of nomination and expression of interest forms.
March 10: Stakeholders’ interactive session with the NWC at PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
March 11: Screening of aspirants.
March 14: Appeals arising from the screening process.
March 19: NWC meets to approve and publish the list of cleared candidates.
March 20 – 21: Ward congresses to elect three ad-hoc delegates per ward.
March 27: Local government congresses to elect one delegate per LGA.
April 5: PDP governorship primary election.
April 8: Appeals committee hearing for the primary election.
April 10: Official presentation of the Certificate of Return to the party’s candidate.
May 22: Submission of the party’s governorship candidate and running mate’s names to INEC.
With the stakes high and the governorship race heating up, the PDP is gearing up for what promises to be a fiercely contested primary election. Aspirants must now brace themselves for intense party screenings, delegate lobbying, and strategic politicking as the journey to Anambra’s Government House officially begins.
