In a major breakthrough against the scourge of kidnapping, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has officially handed over 59 rescued victims to the Kaduna State Government. The announcement was made via the official X handle of Channels Television, confirming the release of abductees who had been taken from various parts of Kaduna State.
The victims, comprising 28 women, 24 men, and six children, were freed following a security operation along the notorious Abuja-Kaduna Highway. One of the rescued individuals is currently receiving medical attention due to health complications sustained during captivity.
During a brief handover ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, Ribadu assured journalists that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate kidnapping and rescue those still held hostage by criminal elements. He emphasized that security agencies will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
The development comes amid growing concerns over the rising spate of abductions in Northern Nigeria, with the Abuja-Kaduna axis being a particularly dangerous hotspot. The successful rescue operation marks another significant step in the government’s ongoing battle against insecurity.
Kaduna State officials expressed gratitude for the intervention, pledging to provide necessary rehabilitation and support for the victims as they reintegrate into society.
This latest rescue underscores the government’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks and restore confidence in the nation’s security apparatus.
