Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has taken to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to unleash a blistering attack on the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Umar Abba, amid escalating political tensions in the state.
In a series of fiery posts and videos shared on the social media platform, Davido voiced his anger and frustration, lashing out at Commissioner Abba for alleged misconduct and issuing a bold warning about respecting the rule of law. With a tone that left no room for ambiguity, the musician declared:
“Mr Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuku mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr Man!!!”

His posts intensified, with Davido delivering a stern rebuke: “Mr Commissioner, we die here. Mr Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!! All of us go mad together!!”
Although the exact trigger behind the singer’s outburst remains unclear, Davido’s past political activism, particularly regarding issues in Osun State, sheds some light on the situation. His family, notably his uncle Ademola Adeleke, who currently serves as the governor of Osun, is deeply entrenched in the state’s political landscape. Given these ties, Davido’s strong stance reflects the charged atmosphere between the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
While the singer’s statements have drawn mixed reactions online, with some fiercely supporting him and others criticizing his approach, the police force’s response has been notably absent. The Osun State Police Command has yet to issue a statement addressing Davido’s remarks.
The unrest in Osun has been palpable. On Monday, gunmen ambushed and killed Remi Abass, the reinstated Chairman of Irewole Local Government, while he was arriving at the secretariat with his supporters. The attack, believed to have been orchestrated by political thugs, adds another grim chapter to the ongoing political crisis.
SaharaReporters has learned that security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested several individuals suspected of being behind the violence. However, Osun State Police spokesperson, SP Opalola Yemisi, did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment on the situation.
Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised alarms about what he perceives as a conspiracy led by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to destabilize the state. Adeleke has accused Oyetola of giving unlawful orders to security forces to reinstate sacked local government chairmen and sow discord within Osun’s political fabric.
This turbulent period in Osun has sparked a nationwide conversation, with Davido’s outspoken remarks now adding fuel to the fire. His willingness to confront those in power head-on reflects a broader frustration with the political climate in the state, where violence and unrest have become increasingly common.
