Command Vows Swift Action to Rescue Victims, Apprehend Perpetrators

Adamawa State, Nigeria – February 17, 2025

The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police (CP) Dankombo Morris, psc(+), has strongly condemned the brazen kidnapping incident that rocked Mayokila Village, Mapeo District, Jada Local Government Area (LGA). The police chief has ordered an extensive manhunt to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

In the early hours of February 17, 2025, at approximately 1:30 AM, a heavily armed gang of unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, stormed Mayokila Village, firing sporadically to instill fear before abducting four individuals, including Abubakar Sadiq Umar (a.k.a. Haske), a staff member of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola.

Upon receiving a distress call around 3:30 AM, CP Morris swiftly deployed specialized operational units, reinforcing the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kojoli Division with tactical teams for an aggressive search-and-rescue mission. The Commissioner assured that all available police intelligence, surveillance, and operational assets are being utilized to track down the assailants and ensure the victims’ safe return.

The Adamawa State Police Command has urged the public, particularly residents of Jada LGA, to remain vigilant and support security efforts by providing credible information that could aid in the operation. The Command reassures the people of its unwavering commitment to maintaining security and bringing the criminals to justice.

“We urge residents to report any suspicious activity promptly. The safety of every citizen is our top priority, and we will not relent in our efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” CP Morris emphasized.

The police command has called on communities to strengthen local security collaboration and refrain from panic, as efforts to restore normalcy and rescue the abducted individuals are in full force.
