Horror in Ogun: Suspected Ritualists Dump Dismembered Female Body in Community

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an intense investigation following the gruesome discovery of a dismembered female body dumped in the Ogijo community. The shocking find has sparked fears of ritual killings in the area, as authorities work to unravel the mystery behind the heinous crime.

Sahara Reporters, through its official X handle, broke the news, revealing that the mutilated remains were found inside a sack on a fenced farmland.

In an official statement released on Monday, the Ogun State Police Command detailed the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

“On February 16, 2025, at approximately 1510 hours, the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community, Ogijo, along with two other community members, reported to the Ogijo Police Division that they had found the dismembered body of an unidentified female. The victim was described as light-skinned, approximately 30 years old, and freshly mutilated,” the statement read.

Upon receiving the distressing report, a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly mobilized to the scene.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered the female corpse wrapped in a sack, with her head and both hands missing,” the statement further revealed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was murdered elsewhere before her remains were dumped at the location. The crime scene was cordoned off, and the body has since been transferred to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for forensic analysis.

The horrifying incident in Ogun comes just days after another ritual-related killing shook the nation. In Kwara State, a final-year student of the College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was allegedly murdered by an Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo.

According to reports, Ballo lured Yetunde after connecting with her on Facebook and obtaining her phone number. The victim, who was attending a naming ceremony on February 10, 2025, received a phone call from a supposed friend, stepped outside to answer it, and was never seen alive again.

When frantic family members and friends failed to locate her, they reported her disappearance to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin. Police investigators, using her phone records, traced her last call to Ballo, who was later apprehended at his residence in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin.

The recent string of suspected ritual killings has heightened security concerns, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to dismantle networks involved in such gruesome crimes. The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits behind the Ogijo murder.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Meanwhile, the Ogun State government has condemned the rising wave of ritual killings, calling for stricter measures to curb the disturbing trend.

As investigations continue, the community of Ogijo remains gripped by fear, hoping for swift justice for the victim whose life was brutally cut short.
