In a chilling turn of events, a family dispute in Anambra State took a fatal twist as a man, Christian Ndubuisi, allegedly stabbed his elder brother to death during an argument. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday in the 3-3 area of the state, leading to Ndubuisi’s immediate arrest by the police.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, revealing that the heated disagreement spiraled into a deadly confrontation.
According to Ikenga, police operatives from the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters swiftly responded to the distress call, arriving at the scene to apprehend the suspect. Preliminary investigations indicate that the argument between the siblings escalated into a physical altercation, during which Ndubuisi broke a bottle and fatally stabbed his elder brother.
“The victim was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” Ikenga disclosed.
Reacting to the tragic incident, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed deep concern over the growing trend of violence stemming from minor disagreements. He stressed the critical need for conflict resolution and anger management, warning that uncontrolled rage often leads to irreversible consequences.
“It is heartbreaking that a simple argument between brothers could escalate to this level of violence, ending in such a senseless loss of life,” Orutugu lamented.
The Commissioner has since ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka, assuring the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted and justice will be served.
As the state reels from the shock of yet another case of domestic violence, authorities continue to urge citizens to seek peaceful means of settling disputes, emphasizing the devastating impact of unchecked aggression within families.
