In a swift and decisive operation, troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have neutralized two suspected kidnappers and rescued four abducted victims in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Intelligence sources revealed to Zagazola Makama that the operation was launched in response to a distress call received on February 14 at approximately 8:30 PM, alerting security forces to the kidnapping of passengers along the Kafanchan-Kwoi road at Afana Daji village. Acting with precision, troops swiftly mobilized to the scene, where they successfully rescued one victim who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Determined to dismantle the criminal network, troops, acting on credible intelligence, launched an aggressive offensive on February 15 at around 4:00 PM in the notorious Angwan Rimi Forest—a known hideout for kidnappers. Upon engaging the assailants in a fierce gunfight, the gallant troops neutralized two of the criminals, sending a clear message to criminal elements operating in the region.
A thorough sweep of the area led to the recovery of a deadly arsenal, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, as well as 10 mobile phones, food supplies, and a substantial cash sum of ₦1,136,000—suspected to be ransom money.
Three additional kidnapped victims, identified as Mr. Mathew Ayemowa, Mr. Tunde Salam, and Mr. Mustapha Mohammed, were successfully rescued, bringing a victorious end to the high-stakes operation.
The latest success underscores the relentless commitment of security forces in tackling the menace of kidnapping and insurgency in Kaduna and beyond. Authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining a proactive stance in combating criminal activities, ensuring that citizens can travel and live without fear.
