Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has launched a scathing attack on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as rudderless, visionless, and incapable of steering Nigeria toward progress.
Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting for the Northwest Zone in Kaduna, Tambuwal lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly plunging the nation into severe economic hardship through reckless policies and poor governance.
He also took aim at PDP defectors who jumped ship to the APC, dismissing their moves as purely self-serving and devoid of any genuine commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.
“People leave the party for different reasons, but what I have observed is that defections are not in the interest of the people; they are based on stomach infrastructure,” Tambuwal declared.
He questioned the logic behind joining the APC amid rising economic woes, asserting that only those seeking personal survival—not national progress—would align with the ruling party at this critical moment.
“If you are a politician with conscience, with the current policies being driven by the APC and the economic hardship across the country, there is nothing attractive about joining the party except for personal survival,” he stated.
Tambuwal did not stop at criticism; he called for a united front to rescue Nigeria from what he termed APC’s disastrous rule.
“It is for those of us who believe in this country and in serving the people to come together and find a way to ease out this administration that lacks focus, direction, and compassion by 2027,” he charged.
His remarks add to the growing discontent within opposition circles over the Tinubu-led government’s handling of the economy, security, and governance. As the 2027 elections inch closer, Tambuwal’s fiery rhetoric signals an intensified political battle for the soul of Nigeria.
