Tragedy in Kano: FRSC Confirms 23 Dead, 50 Injured in Devastating Flyover Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 23 people and left 50 others injured at the Muhammadu Buhari Interswitch Flyover along the Kano-Maiduguri highway.

The confirmation was made by the Kano Sector Commander, Umar Mas’udu Matazu, who disclosed that the victims were receiving medical treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital and Abdullahi Wase Hospital in Kano.

According to Matazu, the accident occurred on Friday night when a trailer, overloaded with goods and passengers, lost control due to excessive speed, crashing into pedestrians and vehicles along the bustling highway.

The aftermath of the horrific crash saw emergency responders, including FRSC officers, the police, and good Samaritans, working tirelessly to rescue survivors and clear the wreckage, restoring the flow of traffic.

Authorities have urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and safety regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
