NAHCON Secures 52,000 Hajj Spaces Ahead of Saudi Deadline, Ensuring Seamless Pilgrimage for Nigerians

In a significant milestone for the 2025 Hajj preparations, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has successfully secured accommodations at Masha’ir, meeting the crucial February 14 deadline set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Announcing the development on its official X handle, Vanguard Newspaper reported that NAHCON has confirmed full payment for 26,287 spaces, while an additional 26,000 have been reserved, bringing the total to 52,000. These spaces are expected to be officially confirmed by Friday.

“This is a crucial step for us, as it ensures we meet the deadline and provide a seamless experience for our pilgrims,” said Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, NAHCON Chairman.

The accommodation contract was officially signed on January 17, 2025, at NAHCON’s Ummul Judd office in Makkah after rigorous consultations with key stakeholders. The delegation responsible for the selection process included:

Malam Idris Almakura

Alhaji Faruku Yaro Aliyu

Malam Abubakar Salihu

Malam Ameen Amshi

Recognizing the critical nature of this arrangement, Professor Usman sought and obtained approval from Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima to travel to Makkah and finalize the agreement. This move was essential to ensure the timely commencement of visa uploads, which will begin on February 19.

Expressing gratitude to the Vice President, Professor Usman emphasized the pivotal role Shettima played in the process.

“I want to express my profound gratitude to the Vice President for his unwavering support and confidence in our operations,” Usman stated. “His timely intervention allowed us to address potential bottlenecks and secure these accommodations on time.”

As preparations intensify, NAHCON has urged intending pilgrims to stay informed through its official communication channels.

“We encourage everyone to remain calm and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj experience this year,” Professor Usman assured.

With this development, NAHCON reaffirms its commitment to delivering an efficient and well-organized pilgrimage, ensuring that Nigerian pilgrims enjoy a seamless spiritual journey in 2025.
