In a bold step toward modernizing its internal structure, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a digital membership registration system aimed at creating a comprehensive and verifiable database of its members ahead of the 2027 general elections. The initiative, spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu and executed through a partnership with Tunmef Global Limited, is set to revolutionize party administration by linking members’ registration numbers to their National Identification Numbers (NIN).
The agreement with the contractor was officially signed at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night, in the presence of key party stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu; and Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo. Also in attendance were APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee, and state party chairmen.
Addressing the gathering, Uzodimma underscored the significance of digital transformation in modern governance and political administration.
“We must commend Mr. President, Bola Tinubu, for the foresight in embracing this digital shift. Globally, everything is digital—economy, politics, and governance. With this initiative, we can guarantee the integrity of our membership register. If we claim to have 10 million members, we can now verify and account for them,” Uzodimma said.
He further emphasized that the e-registration system would enhance transparency and voter mobilization.
“When elections come, we will know exactly how many of our members are in each state, and we can strategize accordingly. We are not concerned about the opposition’s opinions. What matters is that we are organizing our party to be respected both nationally and internationally,” he added.
A Dream Finally Realized
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, hailed the initiative as a long-awaited development that will solidify the party’s organizational strength.
“This program has been in the pipeline for a long time, but today, it has finally seen the light of day, thanks to President Tinubu’s endorsement. We are proud to be the first political party in Nigeria to take such a progressive step. With this digital registration, APC is moving away from analogue methods and embracing a data-driven future,” Ganduje stated.
He highlighted the strategic importance of the project, particularly in resolving electoral disputes.
“During legal battles, party membership lists often become contentious. With this digital database, we can provide irrefutable records of our members, eliminating any ambiguity in court cases,” he added.
Providing an overview of the project, APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana, explained that the e-registration would integrate with the National Identity Management System, allowing for seamless access to member details.
“This initiative was proposed by the party and approved by the governors and our leader, President Tinubu. After a meticulous selection process, Tunmef Global Limited was chosen for its expertise in digital solutions. With this system, APC will have real-time access to verified member data from any location,” Kana stated.
He further disclosed that funding for the project was internally sourced, demonstrating the party’s financial commitment to its long-term vision.
As the APC forges ahead with its digital transformation, political analysts believe this move could set a new standard for party administration in Nigeria. With a verifiable membership database, streamlined voter mobilization, and enhanced electoral strategy, the ruling party is positioning itself for a formidable showing in the 2027 elections.
This digital revolution is not just a step forward for the APC but a signal that Nigerian politics is entering a new era where technology will play a crucial role in party organization and electoral success.
