Legal Showdown: Ex-Dunamis Pastor Abraham Daniel, Peter Enenche Regain Freedom After Meeting Strict Bail Conditions

In a dramatic turn of events, former Dunamis Church Pastor Abraham Daniel and Peter Enenche, brother to Dunamis International Gospel Church Senior Pastor Paul Enenche, have been released from custody after fulfilling stringent bail conditions set by an Abuja court.

SaharaReporters, via its official X handle, confirmed the duo’s release on Friday, citing sources close to the bail process.

“We were able to perfect the bail of Abraham Daniel and Peter Enenche, and they are free now,” a source disclosed.

The Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, presided over by Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna, had earlier granted the duo bail under stiff conditions. They were required to provide a N2 million bail bond each, along with two sureties of the same amount. Additionally, the sureties were mandated to be credible individuals—one a civil servant not below grade level 15, and the other a reputable Nigerian.

The court further stipulated that all sureties must be residents within Abuja, preferably within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), and must submit the original copies of their passports. Both defendants were also ordered to depose an affidavit of good conduct and avoid interfering with ongoing investigations.

The bail application was successfully argued by their legal representative, S. M. Oyeghe, Esq., paving the way for their eventual release.

The duo’s legal troubles stem from a case of cyberbullying and criminal defamation filed against them by Pastor Paul Enenche. Their initial arrest led to their detention at the Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa State, following a remand order secured by the Nigerian Police Force.

Interestingly, Pastor Paul Enenche had earlier withdrawn similar charges against his younger brother, Alexander Enenche, and former presidential aide Reno Omokri, after facing widespread public backlash. The court approved the withdrawal request without opposition from the defence counsel.

However, in a surprising twist, Pastor Enenche filed a fresh First Information Report (FIR) on January 30, 2025, maintaining his resolve to prosecute Abraham Daniel and Peter Enenche. The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, setting the stage for a legal showdown.

Sources revealed that O’chidoma, His Royal Highness Odogbo John Abagaji, played a key role in securing the bail for the embattled duo.

The case has now been adjourned to March 26, 2025, for trial, as legal fireworks continue in what has become one of the most controversial church-related defamation cases in recent times.

With the stakes high and tensions mounting, all eyes remain on the unfolding courtroom battle that pits faith, family, and the law against one another.
