The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the 2025 governorship race in Anambra State is effectively over for Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Speaking in Awka on Saturday, Ganduje and other APC chieftains delivered a bold statement of intent, vowing to unseat the incumbent administration and usher in a new era under the APC.
The APC leadership stormed Anambra ahead of the party’s governorship primaries and the November 8 election, with Ganduje commissioning the party’s newly secured state secretariat, a project spearheaded by Sir Paul Chukwuma and equipped by Prof. Obiora Okonkwo. The two, alongside Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and other aspirants, are contesting the APC ticket for the upcoming election.
The secretariat commissioning quickly morphed into a charged political rally, with party leaders and supporters declaring “enough is enough” for APGA’s leadership in Anambra. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Ganduje praised President Bola Tinubu for “transforming Nigeria’s economy” and emphasized the need for APC unity to achieve victory.
“We assure you that our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is the most articulate and committed leader—a visionary who does not just talk but takes decisive action. Anambra must connect to the national grid of progress, and APC must change the political narrative in this state,” Ganduje declared.
He further warned that “business as usual” was over in Anambra, signaling a more aggressive approach from APC to wrest power from APGA. “That era has gone for good. Tinubu is taking Nigeria to the next level, and Anambra must not be left behind,” he asserted.
APC Accuses Soludo of Hijacking Federal Palliatives
Adding to the political fireworks, Anambra APC Chairman, Sir Basil Ejidike, lamented what he called the mistreatment of party members in the state and accused Governor Soludo of hijacking federal government palliatives.
“The palliative initiative of the Federal Government has been turned upside down by Soludo, as if it were an APGA program. The governor rebranded bags of rice and other relief materials with his picture and the APGA logo, misleading the people and taking undue credit,” Ejidike alleged.
The event also saw the leading APC aspirants—Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Chukwuma Umeoji, and Johnbosco Onunkwo—address a massive crowd gathered opposite the Anambra State Government House. Each aspirant sought to rally support, positioning themselves as the best candidate to defeat APGA and lead Anambra into a new political future under APC.
With tensions rising and the battle lines clearly drawn, the Anambra 2025 governorship election is shaping up to be one of the fiercest political contests in recent history.
