FEC Approves N3.09 Trillion for Nationwide Road Projects, Including Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the green light for a massive ₦3.09 trillion investment in critical road infrastructure across the country. The announcement, made via Nigerian Stories’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle, underscores the government’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s road network and enhancing connectivity.

The approved projects include key sections of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway—a highly anticipated project designed to boost economic activities and ease transportation along the nation’s coastal corridor. Additionally, substantial funding has been allocated for road infrastructure within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), aimed at decongesting traffic and improving mobility in the nation’s capital.

This significant allocation signals the administration’s resolve to bridge infrastructural gaps, enhance trade routes, and stimulate economic growth. The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, in particular, is expected to revolutionize coastal transport, create thousands of jobs, and unlock new business opportunities along its route.

With road infrastructure being a critical driver of national development, the FEC’s approval marks a pivotal step in addressing the challenges of poor road networks, ensuring safer, more efficient, and accessible transportation systems across the country.

As the projects commence, Nigerians will be watching closely to see how these funds translate into tangible improvements in road connectivity, economic expansion, and regional development.
