Vanguard Newspaper has announced via its official X handle that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has issued a strong warning to Nigerians about the rising threat of fire disasters, urging caution, vigilance, and fervent prayers to prevent devastating incidents across the country.
Speaking during RCCG’s February Thanksgiving Service at the Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the urgency of taking precautionary measures against fire outbreaks, storms, and floods—dangers he had prophesied about at the beginning of the year.
> “I must share something very urgent,” Pastor Adeboye declared. “One of the prophecies for this year was to pray against fire outbreaks, storms, and floods. We have only spent one month, and already, we’ve seen an alarming increase in fire incidents across the world. Nigeria is part of the world, and we must be prayerful.”
The revered cleric particularly warned farmers against bush burning while preparing their lands for cultivation, stressing that carelessness with fire could lead to irreparable losses.
> “Don’t joke with any form of naked fire around you,” he cautioned. “Farmers, please don’t burn bushes while preparing your farms. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. May the Almighty God answer our prayers and grant our requests.”
Delivering a sermon titled “The Covenant-Keeping God”, Pastor Adeboye underscored the importance of obedience to divine instructions, asserting that God remains faithful to those who uphold His covenant.
> “If you obey and keep God’s covenant, He will make you His peculiar treasure,” Adeboye stated, citing biblical examples of individuals who experienced divine favor through their unwavering obedience.
He also pointed to the late founder of RCCG as a testament to God’s covenant-keeping nature.
> “God called the founder of this church—a man who never attended secondary school or university. He gave him specific instructions and promised that if he obeyed, He would use him to start a church that would spread across the world. The founder fulfilled God’s conditions, and today, RCCG is in virtually every nation,” Adeboye recounted.
Dismissing claims that the church’s phenomenal growth was due to his academic background, Adeboye affirmed that divine grace and covenant obedience were the key drivers behind RCCG’s global expansion.
As Nigeria grapples with the growing menace of fire outbreaks and natural disasters, Pastor Adeboye’s prophetic call for vigilance, prayer, and responsible actions serves as a timely wake-up call to all citizens.
