Despite speculations about a dwindling support base, Senator Aishatu Binani, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, remains a formidable political force, commanding unwavering loyalty from her vast support network, a key advocacy group has asserted.
The Binani Grassroots Supporters and Mobilizers Adamawa North, speaking over the weekend, vehemently dismissed reports suggesting cracks in her political structure, emphasizing that Binani continues to enjoy the loyalty of over 398,000 voters who stood by her in the last election.
Addressing a press briefing in Yola, the group’s leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Yunusa Mubi, reaffirmed Binani’s deep-rooted connection with the grassroots and her steadfast commitment to the APC.
“She still enjoys unwavering support from her followers, including those who contributed to the 398,788 votes she secured in the 2023 governorship election,” Yunusa declared.
Binani had mounted a fierce electoral battle against incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but narrowly lost after Fintiri secured 430,861 votes to claim victory.
The group criticized attempts to portray Binani as politically isolated, dismissing claims that some of her loyalists had abandoned her.
“We urge all political groups to learn from Binani and focus on people-oriented grassroots politics that strengthen the APC, rather than exploiting her name for personal political gains,” Yunusa stated.
Reacting to recent speculation that Binani had defected from the APC, Yunusa described such rumors as “the handiwork of desperate political merchants” seeking to undermine her influence.
“Binani remains a committed APC member, and any claim to the contrary is a fabrication designed to mislead the public. Her empathy, philanthropy, and timely interventions in the plight of the downtrodden have made her a beloved figure in Adamawa politics,” he added.
With her unwavering grassroots appeal and a fiercely loyal support base, Binani’s political journey remains far from over, and her influence within the APC continues to stand strong and unshaken.
