Adamawa Police Arrest Suspect for Abduction and Rape of Minor, Vows Swift Justice

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Luka James, for his involvement in the abduction and rape of a minor in Michicka, under the jurisdiction of Song Local Government Area. The heinous crime, which has left the community shaken, was brought to light following a distressing report by Yohanna Begie, a concerned resident of Nkafa Village.

On January 31, 2025, the young victim, a schoolgirl, was on her way to school when Luka James, in collaboration with an accomplice identified as Emmanuel (who remains at large), abducted her. The two men forcefully dragged her into a secluded area, where James subjected her to sexual assault. The victim was later discovered unconscious and, with urgency, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is currently receiving medical care.

The arrest of Luka James, who is now in police custody, follows a swift response from the authorities. In a statement, the Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, CP Damkombo Morris, PSC(+), condemned the despicable crime and expressed deep concern for the safety of citizens, particularly minors. CP Morris has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take immediate control of the investigation and ensure the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.

The Commissioner also urged parents and guardians across the state to be more vigilant in safeguarding their children. “It is imperative that parents closely monitor their wards and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately,” CP Morris advised.

The Adamawa State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for victims of such horrendous acts.
