The operation has been described as a meticulously coordinated assault targeting high-ranking insurgents. Among those neutralized were Talha, the terrorists’ Special Forces Commander; Mallam Umar, their Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, the Brigade Commander. These figures were instrumental in orchestrating numerous attacks that have plagued the region. Their elimination marks a critical blow to the operational capabilities of the terrorist network.

The three-pronged offensive was launched on January 16 and continues to date. Despite the challenges, our brave soldiers have neutralized over 70 combatants, including three key commanders.”
During the operation, insurgents deployed a range of deadly tactics, including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), suicide bombers on foot (Person-Borne IEDs), and explosives-laden vehicles (Vehicle-Borne IEDs). However, the military’s strategic preparedness and familiarity with these guerrilla tactics ensured the threats were effectively neutralized. The operation remains ongoing, with the military continuing its efforts to eradicate all traces of insurgency within the Timbuktu Triangle. The Defence Headquarters has pledged to provide timely updates on developments as the mission progresses, urging citizens to remain vigilant and supportive of the armed forces.
