The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has immortalized Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC (ASE 1) Aminu Sahabi Salisu, who was tragically killed while on official duty in Anambra State, by naming the administrative block of its Academy in Karu, Abuja, in his honor.
This significant gesture was announced by EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, during the Commission’s Annual Rewards and Recognition Ceremony held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the EFCC Academy.
In his address to staff and attendees, Mr. Olukoyede expressed profound grief over the loss of the officer, describing Salisu as a gallant and dedicated professional who paid the ultimate price in service to his nation.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He was a courageous officer whose sacrifice must not be forgotten. To this end, the administrative block of the EFCC Academy will now bear his name, ensuring his legacy lives on,” Olukoyede said solemnly.
The ceremony, which celebrated the resilience and dedication of EFCC staff, also highlighted the organization’s commitment to excellence. Thirty-six officers were recognized in various categories, including achievements in recovery, convictions, and overall performance.
In his congratulatory remarks, the EFCC Chairman commended the awardees for their dedication to the Commission’s mandate and encouraged all staff to sustain their pursuit of excellence.
“Excellence is not about doing things right occasionally; it is about doing things right consistently. Let this be a reminder that the reward for hard work is more work. Continue to give your best to the Commission and to Nigeria,” he urged.
Among the standout honorees was Chief Superintendent of the EFCC (CSE) Alvan Gurumnaan, who clinched the prestigious Staff Member of the Year award. The Sokoto Zonal Directorate earned the title of Best Directorate of the Year, reflecting their stellar performance in advancing the EFCC’s anti-corruption objectives.
Other individual awardees included Bitrus Yakubu, Katmi Kefas, Halilu Dauda, Nenman Danladi, Oluwakemi Aaron, Yusuf Umar, Michael Adukwu Uchechika, and David Solomon, all of whom were recognized for their exemplary contributions to the Commission.
