The Nigerian Army School of Infantry, on 24 January 2025, inaugurated Tactics Wing First Quarter Courses of 2025 at General Iheajirika Auditorium, Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna. The courses inaugurated comprise participants of Commanding Officers’ Course 47, Company Commanders’ Course 79, Young Officers’ Course 143, Tactics Instructors’ Course 26, Infantry Non-Commissioned Officers’ Course 40 and Basic Infantry Course 32.

In his inaugural speech, the Commandant Nigerian Army School of Infantry Major General Frank Sunday Etim implore participants and students to remain discipline, focused and concentrate on their courses to avoid all forms of distractions in order to derive maximum benefits at the end of the course. He emphasized that the courses are designed to train them to be leaders, commanders, instructors and above all to be more proficient and competent in their service career. He noted that tactics is the bedrock upon which military operations revolve and well-trained commanders are the backbone and pillars of units and formations in the Nigerian Army and must therefore adhere to the acceptable standard of discipline throughout their stay in NASI and put in their best to understand the rudiments of tactics and command.
Major General Etim further stated that “participants and students must abide by the Dos and Don’ts guiding your stay in NASI and support the current drive by the School to ensure positive transformation of this Institution to meet the aspirations of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede. I have directed that your training should be more of practical periods to ensure mastery of the aspects of Military Operations other than war, Asymmetric Warfare as well as conventional warfare. This is due to the current security challenges in the country and the need for you to actualize the COAS’ vision for the Nigerian Army which the school is determined to promote. This additional course content in conjunction with other reports will form the basis of your assessment”. He said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief Instructor Tactics Wing Colonel Mohammed Tsuya Nasiru stated that the courses are designed to train participants and students on command and leadership, administration, and instructional roles. Other aspects of training will cover asymmetric warfare, maneuverist approach to warfare, tactics techniques and procedures as well as employment of infantry weapons. This is consistently in line with the Commandant Mission. It will also invariably to develop the participants and students to key into the COAS command philosophy which is “To Consolidate the Transformation of the NA Toward Bequeathing a Well – Motivated and Combat – Ready Force that can Effectively Discharge its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”.
Colonel Nasiru stressed that, In the course of this trainings, emphasis will be on command, leadership and character as commanders at all levels are increasingly expected to exhibit a blend of traditional leadership qualities and modern adaptive skills as they are important members of the leadership team in any unit of the Nigerian Army. The Chief Instructor also thanked the Commandant for his passion for training and his immeasurable support to all NASI Wings and particular, Tactics Wing.
Earlier during the week, the Commandant Major General Frank Etim, who was ably represented by the Deputy Commandant and Director Army Training Support Centre Brigadier General Abubakar Bello, inaugurated courses for Support Weapon Wing, Platoon Weapon Wing, Watermanship Wing, Armoured Personnel Carrier Wing, All Arms Drill Wing and Signal Wing, All of First Quarter 2025.
