In a major breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of two suspects connected to the recent abduction of Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu. The development underscores the unwavering commitment of the Force to combatting crime and ensuring public safety across the nation.
Arrests and Recoveries
The suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart (27) and Keleke Michael (30), were intercepted in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, as they attempted to flee Lagos State. Acting on a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad carried out the operation that led to their arrest.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the crime and confirmed being part of a four-member gang responsible for the kidnap. Notably, two other members of the gang had been neutralized in an earlier operation.
Items recovered during the arrest include:
N2.25 million, identified as part of the ransom paid for Mrs. Odumosu’s release.
Two locally fabricated rifles, indicating the gang’s readiness for violent crimes.
Eleven live cartridges, further evidence of their criminal activities.
The Inspector-General of Police lauded the professionalism and diligence of the operatives involved in the operation, emphasizing the importance of sustained efforts to combat crime in all its forms. “The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that criminals are brought to justice and peace prevails across the nation,” IGP Egbetokun stated.
