Elevating Excellence: Nigerian Army Chief Vows to Revolutionize Training Standards

The Nigerian Army, through its official X handle, has announced a bold commitment by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to transform the training standards of its officers and soldiers, setting a new benchmark for professionalism and operational efficiency.

During his visit to the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria on Monday, 20 January 2025, Lieutenant General Oluyede addressed personnel at the institution, renowned for shaping the future of the nation’s armed forces. The COAS pledged to elevate training methodologies, emphasizing that robust and dynamic training is the bedrock of an effective military force, especially in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

“The challenges we face today demand not just courage but exceptional skills, discipline, and professionalism,” he stated. “We are committed to equipping every soldier with the tools and knowledge required to excel on the battlefield and in service to the nation. This institution will remain the cornerstone of our mission to uphold Nigeria’s sovereignty and security.”

The Commandant of the Depot Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Abdullahi, expressed profound gratitude to the COAS for his visionary leadership and unwavering support.
