In the early hours of January 19, 2025, the Adamawa State Police Command responded to a distressing scene near Ribadu Square. At approximately 6:00 a.m., officers discovered the body of an unidentified individual at an electric transformer, suspected to have been attempting to vandalize electrical cables.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the individual came into contact with live electrical currents while tampering with the transformer, resulting in a fatal electric shock. The severe injuries sustained rendered the victim unconscious and ultimately lifeless.
The police have evacuated the body to a nearby hospital for medical examination and expert analysis to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.
Speaking on the matter, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), issued a stern warning to the public against tampering with electrical infrastructure. “Transformers and other high-voltage installations pose grave dangers. Members of the public are advised to avoid such installations and promptly report any suspicious activity to the authorities,” CP Morris stated.
The Adamawa State Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and security. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with efforts to identify the deceased and uncover any potential accomplices.
