In a significant stride toward restoring peace in Nigeria’s Northwest region, troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Fansan Yanma have delivered a crushing blow to terrorist factions terrorizing Sokoto and Kebbi states.
Renowned security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, broke the news via his official X handle, confirming that the military’s relentless offensives have led to the neutralization of scores of terrorists and the obliteration of several camps that had long served as operational hubs for criminal elements.
The coordinated operations swept through multiple Local Government Areas (LGAs), targeting hotspots in Sokoto State, including Illela, Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silami, and extending to Augie, Arewa, Argungu, and Dandi LGAs in neighboring Kebbi State. The precision and scale of the missions resulted in the elimination of over 20 terrorists, with several others fleeing in disarray, leaving behind their hideouts, supplies, and weapons.
“This operation is a testament to the commitment of our troops to ensuring the safety of Nigerians,” Makama stated, commending the bravery and tactical expertise of the forces involved. He noted that the synchronized raids were not just aimed at dismantling the physical camps but also at crippling the logistical networks and morale of the insurgents.
