In a chilling turn of events, 32-year-old gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi has admitted to the brutal murder and dismemberment of his alleged girlfriend, Salome Eleoja Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who worked with Nicon Insurance in Abuja. Ajayi’s shocking confession has left the nation grappling with the horror of this heinous act.
The tragedy unfolded when Salome visited Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. Her visit ended in horror as Ajayi murdered her, allegedly out of jealousy and frustration over their relationship.
Ajayi, who is now in custody at the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, shocked investigators and the public alike with his gruesome actions. He was apprehended during a church service in Orozo, Abuja, while carrying a sack containing Salome’s severed head.
According to eyewitness accounts, a vigilant church member felt uneasy about the sack Ajayi was carrying and decided to investigate. To the congregation’s horror, the sack contained the freshly severed head of Salome, her hair styled in neat “million braids.”
Ajayi confessed to the crime during an exclusive interview with Channels TV, revealing details that have stunned the public. He claimed the act was not premeditated but was triggered by frustration and jealousy over Salome’s alleged infidelity.
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time,” Ajayi admitted. “It’s not something I planned. It happened on that day because I discovered she was cheating. I saw her chats with other guys on her phone, and that’s what led to my decision.”
Even more disturbing was his lack of remorse. “I don’t have any regrets,” Ajayi stated. “Life is reciprocal. I felt she wasn’t being honest with me, so I acted based on what I thought was right.”
The victim’s family has denied any romantic relationship between Salome and the suspect. Speaking to Sahara Reporters, Salome’s elder sister, Patience Adaidu, expressed frustration over the handling of the case.
“The officers at the Orozo Police Station are not giving us any information,” Patience lamented, adding that the lack of updates has compounded their grief. She also debunked rumors of a romantic relationship, stating, “We had no idea who this man was. My sister never mentioned him.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for the police to ensure justice is served. The display of the alleged murder weapons, including knives and machetes, during Ajayi’s parade at the police command further highlighted the gruesome nature of the crime.
As investigations continue, Salome’s tragic death serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of unchecked emotions and the devastating impact of violence on families and communities.
The public awaits further developments in this case, hoping for swift justice for a young woman whose promising life was cut short in the most horrific manner.
